My dad has always wanted to own his own business. After thirty years of working for the post office and retiring comfortably he is thinking about sinking his retirement and his savings into owning a chicken joint. To me it sounds a little crazy, but I have to admit, my Dad is a great cook. I worry, though, that at his age he won’t be able to take on owning his very own restaurant. I hate to sound like the pessimistic daughter, but I just can’t help it. Stubborn man that he is I know I won’t be able to talk him out of owning his own business, but I can give him helpful advice about cutting costs and using companies that will allow him to grow his business as opposed to fretting over the small stuff.
I found out that there are PEO, or Professional Employer Organizations that will help business owners like my father run a better operation. Essentially what these companies do is take on the task of payroll services, direct deposit, human resource solutions, employee benefits, and workers comp. I can’t wait to tell my dad because these are the precise things that have been keeping my Dad from starting his own business years ago.
One of the barriers that prevented my Dad from opening his own restaurant years ago is that he didn’t know what to do about the employees he was sure to have and the health benefits and employee services he was sure to have to give. He also was timid about having to discover all of this information because of the high costs. Now he can rest assured that a PEO company like National PEO will be take care of his employees without him having to do it himself, or heaven forbid, he want my mother to tackle payroll. Not going to happen.
National PEO will help my father tremendously by doing such things as helping with his payroll services, taxes, payment and filing, and any garnishments and deductions his employees may owe. Can you imagine a 60-something man trying to figure that out and cook chicken and fries all day long, too? I can’t.
I am especially grateful that National PEO can help my father create an employee handbook, because honestly, you really do need a professional to do that for you. And the most important thing, at least for my father, is he will be able to provide health insurance for his employees. My Dad always had pretty good health coverage as an employee of the postal service so he wants to return the favor to his employees and provide good plans for them as well.
National PEO offers customized plans for medical, dental, vision, disability and term life insurance for business owners. National PEO has E verify trained specialists that can help my Dad understand perfectly what he is offering to his employees, and they have specialists who can teach his employees about the options they have for coverage. National PEO promises quick and easy enrollment, employee communication materials that will increase the numbers of enrollment and accurate management of information.
I know for a fact that my father would never be able to open his own restaurant if there were not PEO companies around like National PEO that could help him to the necessary stuff that he’d rather not think about. My Dad wants to cook and that’s all he wants to do. He doesn’t want to work on payroll and benefits. He’s content leaving that up to National PEO.
